Renaissance Festival

We haven't been to the Arizona Renaissance Festival in YEARS. So, since it was my birthday weekend, I made a royal decree that we would go as a family.

It really is amazing how the Festival is so extensive! The first show we went to was "The London Broil: Blades of Fury." The comical jugglers were amazing at both their craft and their jokes. We laughed and laughed.




Soon after we arrived, we realized Isaac was getting sick. He just wasn't interested in anything. We let him have some quiet play time on this slide, while Jacob went on to something a little more energetic...

Jacob begs us to let him ride one of these every single time we see them. We let each of the boys choose one ride at the Festival and Jacob finally got to go on the Assault Catapult.

The Petting Farm was another good choice for Isaac. He loved the horses, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, and sheep. Jacob is always afraid he will get bitten...

but Isaac was so brave and loved to feed the sheep and goats.

Everyone got a gigantic turkey leg for our traditional Festival meal, but only Noah and Spencer finally finished theirs!

We sat and ate while we watched "Three Guys and a Bunch of Drums," which is exactly what it sounds like!

Jacob found this rope balancing game and decided to give it a try.

And we always have to shoot bows and arrows!

Isaac had some help from Jeremy.

And Jacob is a pro after going to day camp last year!

Isaac was fading fast and we were only halfway through, so Jeremy took him on an elephant ride which seemed to cheer him up a little bit.

Noah and Spencer found some drums to keep themselves entertained while Jacob and I watched a poor girl be locked in the stocks and water tortured (all in good fun!).

Our last stop of the day was our favorite shop. The boys love to look at all the varieties of wooden swords and shields.

The best part of the day for Jacob: while we were in the sword shop, Amare Stoudemire (formerly of the Suns) came in with his family. Jacob couldn't stop grinning! I tried to stealthily take a photo of them together but after several tries, this was the best shot.

We would have loved to stay longer but Isaac had a fever and had fallen asleep on Jeremy's shoulder. We really love the Renaissance Festival. What a great day!
