We have adopted a baby skink. Spencer signed up for the Reptile and Amphibian Studies merit badge at scout camp this summer and one of the prerequisites is to care for a reptile or amphibian for one month. He thought he was being so clever and that we would have to buy him a snake or frog or iguana, but I just phoned a friend and she let us borrow their skink. We think his name is Schneider. Spencer has become very attached to his new friend and can't leave him alone. He is fascinated by Schneider. Unfortunately for Schneider, so are Jacob and Isaac. We have to keep his cage up high so it's harder for them to get to him. Actually, it's kind of fun to have a pet again. And DA-AAAD, it doesn't have fur or eat very much or make noise! Can we keep him, please? We'll take care of him and feed him his mealworms and water him and love him. Dad? Dad?
Gotta love neighbors who share their pets! I'm sure your boys would love to have a reptile for a pet. Good luck on convincing their Dad :o)
