On the second morning of our King Family Trip we drove from St. Louis on the eastern border of Missouri, clear to Kansas City on the western side. Destination: Independence. When we arrived at the visitor's center, we decided to tour the Community of Christ temple first. It was neat inside with lots of gorgeous artwork.
We were all interested in what the tour guide had to say about the "reorganized" church and pondered how that differs from our Church today and our knowledge of the truth.
Across the street from the Community of Christ temple is the Church of Christ temple lot (yes, it was getting confusing!).
We finished out our Independence visit at the LDS Visitor's Center. It was lovely and filled with the Spirit.
We loved the sweet tour guide and learning about the faithful saints who lived in the area.
The boys had fun trying their hand at driving a covered wagon.
And what a privilege to view a first edition copy of the Book of Mormon.
After leaving Independence, we stopped at the monument honoring the Eight Witnesses of the Book of Mormon and the members of Zion's Camp.
We truly appreciated the peace and the green of the surroundings.
Then we were on our way to our hotel, dinner at the Cracker Barrel, and swimming in the pool.
